Hiking day in Cinque Terre. A walking trail ("Light Blue Trail"), connects the five villages. We are going to traverse through all 5 villages and returned to La Spezia in the end. We walked from village to village. With the Cinque Terre railcard, you can take trains and travelled within the 5 villages with unlimited rides. We had lunch at one of the villages. Nothing beats bread with tuna when you are super hungry after the walk.
The trail is marked by red and white paint followed by trail number so that walkers wont get lost along the trail. We have passed some wineyards with grapes. Loads of people passed us in either directions. We greeted many walkers along the way.
Once we have finished traversed the 5 villages, we took the regional train and went back to La Spezia. Sunset was really fabulous by the seaside. We were reluctant to leave. The colourful houses by the seaside made the whole sunset scene so gorgeous.
Note on 27 Oct 2011: Monterosso and other villages in the La Spezia region have been very heavily affected by mudslide due to the torrential rainstorms.
